GOVERNMENT NOTIFICATION.

Captain T. V. Watkins, R. N. appointed Harbour Master and Marine Magistrate in terms of a Warrant under the Royal Sign Manual has this day assumed the duties of his office.

In consequence of the appointment of Captain Watkins, Mr. E. R. Michell will resume his duties

as Chief Clerk and Mr. F. Pedder those of Second Clerk in the Department of the Harbour Master and Marine Magistrate.

All Marine cases, save those connected with Chinese, will in future be entertained by the Marine Magistrate.
